Well as we all know, Vince Flynn's latest book, Pursuit of Honor, is once again part of the Mitch Rapp Series (a CIA operative who takes the fight directly to the terrorists that wish to do us harm). Flynn's last two books reached #1, however as noted below, Pursuit of Honor only debuted as #2 this year. I guess when you can phrase an author's book as ONLY debuting at #2, then an author has hit it big. And I believe this is the case with Vince Flynn.
Since self-publishing his first book, Term Limits back in 1997, where Vince Flynn led us down a moral tightrope of right versus wrong with dirty politicians being executed in the still night in Washington, D.C., many of us fans cheered in our living rooms late at night, while sitting on the couch reading page after page. We knew then and there that Flynn was an upcoming thriller writer and was on his way to stardom. From that point on, he continued to produce New York Times Bestsellers with his Mitch Rapp character and we continued to watch has his popularity grew.
Finally, back in 2007, Flynn's book Protect and Defend reached #1 on The New York Times Hardcover Fiction Bestseller List, establishing himself as one of the top thriller writers in a new generation of storytellers. He then went on to debut his next book Extreme Measures (2008) at #1 continuing this legacy.
Of course, as we know, and the point of this blog today, is the fact that although Pursuit of Honor ONLY debuted at #2, behind Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol, as of October 28, 2009, Flynn stated himself at a book signing in Georgia that sales for Pursuit of Honor were up around 34% over his #1 New York Times Bestseller Extreme Measures the previous year. As with the title of this blog, Vince Flynn is truly at the top of his game, continuing to reach new readers and showing why he is the top thriller writer out there today.
